In 2018, Época magazine — a major information weekly magazine in Brazil — was moving to big changes in graphic design and content, in order to re-adjust to the present days when mass media print became less sold. The new Época envisions to re-found what is a weekly magazine in Brazil. investigations, analysis, major reporting, criticism and sarcasm, the news seen from less obvious ways. The graphic design is an arm of this reform and inserts a refined design language as an elementary feature of the publication. The cover is the synthesis of this project and the challenge is to balance the objectivity of information and the poetics of design in a short time of production. Photography, fine arts, typography, colors, photomontages and illustration are languages used, which seek to better translate each cover.
