Michael Connelly is an American author of more than 20 detective novels and other crime fiction books. featuring two main characters, a los angeles detective and a criminal defense lawyer, his stories are known for their plot twists, where the narrative surprises the readers and modifies their expectations. therefore, duality was elected as the key concept for the cover designs. the bold typography is framed by a two-colour checkerboard pattern, a visual metaphor for these unexpected twists.
