About leafs that resists
This book of short stories tells narratives about strong female characters living far from urban centers who resist against the patriarchal culture. The author deals with oppressive subjects with sensitivity and delicacy and her stories combine aspects of fragility and brutality, as if resistance to patriarchy will not work without some violence.
The attachment to the soil and nature that can be read in all the stories in the book seems to tell readers that a country life can have better legitimacy than living in big cities. The title of the book itself created the metaphor that guided the cover design. Encouraged by this plot, the designer collected different types of leaves in the Atlantic forest of Rio de Janeiro. The diversity of shapes and textures found that can palpitate in the eyes of readers led to the creation of this collage. The image made of leaves that are half alive and half dead symbolizes preservation over degradation.
